The Community House Rules
We want to keep Gameolith a friendly and safe place for every Linux gamer. These house rules add to the existing Terms of Service.
1. Be polite, be friendly. We can’t tolerate excessive and aggressive language, because it is the fastest way to ruin an otherwise calm situation. We will not allow for flaming, intimidating, threatening or harassing content.
2. Don’t spam. Unauthorised commercial activities or ‘gaming’ of the community, such as astroturfing, is not on. Neither is the posting of advertisements, unless it is relevant to a particular discussion (and even then, we do reserve the right to remove posts or users that have a commercial agenda).
3. Don’t troll. It may be funny to some to cause distress to others, but too much of that sort of thing turns a community toxic, quickly.
4. Stick to the topic. Veering off topic makes threads confusing to navigate, regardless of how well a website may be designed. Threads that meander off topic will either be locked or split into separate threads.
5. Keep it legal. Gameolith is hosted in the United States and in Europe, and you are expected to stay within the boundaries of legality in both regions. Respect copyright – don’t post anything you don’t have the rights to use.
Five simple rules to keep the Gameolith community a nice place to be. Keep to them, and everyone’s happy, you see. However if you flout and break the rules asunder, moderator action you will be placed under.
1. We may send you a warning about your misbehaviour. You’ll be asked to mend your ways, and given a second chance.
2. We may tell you to cool off for a short time. You cannot access the forums for the duration of the cooldown period.
3. As a last resort, and if all other options have been exhausted, we will block your access to the forums permanently. You will not be able to appeal this decision once it has been made.
